Day 1/2: Dakar
Overnight flight. Arrive Dakar and transfer to your hotel. Time to relax and unpack before your Welcome Dinner with naming ceremony.

Day 3: Dakar
Full day guided city tour of Dakar. Visit the colorful markets, including Tilen Market, famous for a variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Also visit the picturesque residential district of Medina, the Presidential Palace, the Ifan Museum, and the National Art Gallery. Dinner and overnight in Dakar.

Day 4: Goree Island Excursion
Morning visit to Goree Island, a World Heritage Site. See the chilling "Door of No Return" through which millions of Africans passed on their way to a life of slavery in the Americas. Also included is a visit to the Ethnographic Museum and a lecture by a curator on the history of Goree Island.

Day 5: Dakar - Pink Lake - Saint Louis
Start the day with the natural phenomena of Pink Lake - a unique combination of micro-organisms and a high concentration of salts gives the lake its unique pink color. Time to interact with local women harvesting salt before proceeding to nearby Fulani Village where you will be welcomed by the Chief and his wives. Continue to Saint Louis, the last colonial capital of Senegal before the Senegalese gained independence from the French.

Day 6: Saint Louis
Guided tour of Saint Louis, with time to explore the narrow streets flanked by houses with carved wooden balconies and verandas.

Day 7: Djoudj National Bird Park
Today's highlight is Djoudj National Bird Park, home to 10,000 species and one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world. Board a local pirogue (long boat) to travel through the waterways for an up-close viewpoint. You will likely also see crocodiles, boas and wild boars.

Day 8: Saint Louis
A day to interact with the villagers to learn their culture, including a visit to a local school.

Day 9: Saint Louis - Dakar
Free time before your return to Dakar for your Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight in Dakar.

Day 10:
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
