Teach By Travel - England and Scotland - England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales

Day 1:
Departure Flight.

Day 2: Perth
Arrive in Scotland, meet your Teach by Travel tour manager, and transfer to the ancient city of Stirling for a tour of Stirling Castle. The Medieval 'Stirling Castle' sits on a rocky outcrop, looking down upon some of the most famous battlefields in Scotland's history. Situated in the center of Scotland, the castle's strategic location ensured that those who held the castle (including William Wallace, who defeated the English in 1297 during the War of Independence, and Robert the Bruce, triumphant over King Edward II's troops in 1314) were able to control movement through the middle of the kingdom. Continue on to Perth for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Perth
Perth area touring today, to enjoy the beautiful scenery and traditional towns where Scotland's Lowlands meet the Highlands. First stop is the town of Crieff, then on to Killin and the Falls of Dochart, via Loch Earn. Follow one of Scotland's most beautiful lochs, Loch Tay, to visit Kenmore, a picture postcard village of whitewashed cottages, and then continue along Loch Tummel to Pitlochry to visit the Woolen Mills and the amazing salmon ladder. Return to Perth for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Edinburgh
A short coach ride this morning takes you to Edinburgh. Upon arrival, a guided city sightseeing tour of Edinburgh, featuring the medieval Old Town, and the Royal Mile leading downhill to the royal Palace of Holyroodhouse, and more, ending at the spectacular hill-top Edinburgh Castle for an included visit. Time to explore the alleys and closes of this mystical city, or venture along the Royal Mile and visit kiltmakers, Scottish craft shops, and antique stores. Dinner and overnight in the Edinburgh area.

Day 5: Edinburgh - York
Morning departure from Edinburgh. Stop at the northern boundary of the Roman Empire, Hadrian's Wall, for a walking tour. In AD 122 Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of a wall across northern England to hold back the advancing Barbarians. The wall extended from coast to coast across the width of northern Britian, and ran for 73 miles. Next stop is Durham, with its Cathedral and University sitting high on rocks above the town. Ghost Walk this evening in York, said to be a haunted city! Dinner and overnight in York.

Day 6: York - Cambridge
Board your coach, leave York, and travel south, making a stop at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, legendary home of Robin Hood and his band of merry followers. Enjoy the exhibitions which explain both the natural history of forestland around the world, and life in medieval Sherwood. Proceed to the University city of Cambridge for a walking tour, highlighted by stately buildings, the river running along the backs of the colleges, the bustling market at the center, and the many shops, bookshops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. And of course, what Cambridge is best known for - its world-famous university. Dinner and overnight in Cambridge.

Day 7: Cambridge - London
Depart Cambridge this morning and transfer to London. Enjoy a guided city sightseeing tour where you will see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, and more. Free time to visit the British Museum, or explore the shops on Oxford Street. Dinner and overnight in London. You may opt to experience a London Theatre performance tonight.

Day 8: London
A full free day in London! Ride on the London Eye, observe the lively scenes at Covent Garden, visit the National Portrait Gallery or Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
