Teach By Travel - The Irish Jig - England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales
Day 1:
Departure Flight.
Day 2: Dublin
Arrive at Dublin airport, meet your Teach by Travel tour manager, and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Afternoon Orientation Tour of Dublin, including a visit to Trinity College, established in 1592, one of Europe’s oldest universities. Dinner and overnight in Dublin.
Day 3: Dublin - Waterford
Depart Dublin and travel to Glendalough, a fascinating monastic settlement in a spectacular natural setting. View the extensive ruins, including several early churches, a graceful round tower, and various sites associated with the life of St. Kevin. On to Avoca, the scenic setting of Balleykissangel, and the oldest handweaving center in Ireland. Continue on to Waterford and the fascinating Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre. Dinner and overnight in the Waterford area.
Day 4: Waterford - Killarney
Board your coach to enjoy gorgeous rolling hills and lush green valleys as you journey along the south coast to Cobh and a visit to the Heritage Centre. The Cobh Heritage Centre provides information on life in Ireland through the 18th and 19th centuries, chronicles the story of Irish emigration, and has an exhibition on the history of the Titanic. Continue on to the medieval stronghold of Blarney, Blarney Castle. Don't forget to kiss the Blarney Stone, and receive the gift of eloquence! Surrounding the castle are beautiful and quite extensive gardens. Final destination today is Killarney, for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Ring of Kerry - Limerick
Unforgettable scenes today as you travel to the Ring of Kerry, part of the mystical and unspoilt region of Ireland. Its spectacular beauty is beyond question, with its amazing insight into the ancient heritage of Ireland - see the Iron Age Forts and Ogham Stones, Old Monasteries and a landscape carved out of rock by the last Ice Age 10,000 years ago. Proceed to Limerick and Bunratty Castle to join the Earl of Thomond for a glorious banquet at this majestic 15th century castle! Also, enjoy traditional musical entertainment as you dine in this enchanting medieval setting.
Day 6: Limerick - Athlone
Start the day at Bunratty Folk Park, which recreates rural and urban life in 19th century Victorian Ireland. The Park is a living museum - bread is baked, animals are tended, roofs are thatched. Watch a blacksmith shoe a horse, visit an Irish farmhouse, or bake and eat scones at the local tea house! On to Galway, with a stop for coffee at Durty Nellies, a traditional Irish pub. Upon arrival in Galway, enjoy a walking tour of this ancient city. Dinner and overnight in the Athlone/Mullingar area.
Day 7: Causey Farm - Dublin
Morning visit to Causey Farm. Learn Ceili Dancing and rope making, see a sheepdog demonstration, and make Irish soda bread during your visit to this educational slice of Irish life. On to Dublin for your final dinner and overnight. Optional Irish Cabaret with dinner at Merry Ploughboys available tonight.
Day 8:
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
